Kenichi Matsui was President of the IAEE in 1994. He joined the establishment of the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan in 1966 and worked at the Institute as a researcher till 1994. Since then, he has been Councilor at the Institute. He taught at the Faculty of Intercultural Communication of Ryukoku University from 1994 to 2007 and is now Professor Emeritus of the University. He has served for many International Organizations including OECD Energy Division, IEA, ESCAP, UN Conference on New and Renewable Sources of Energy as a consultant and in other positions. He has been Chair of the Expert Group on Energy Data and Analysis of the APEC Energy Working Group since 1991. He graduated from Tokyo University, Faculty of General Culture in 1963 and received his Ph.D in International Politics from Waseda University in 2006. He has published many books, including Introduction into the Theory of Energy Economics (Japanese, Nihon Kogyo Shinbun, 1975), International Energy Regime (Japanese, Energy Forum Publishing, 2006).
