Mandeep is the senior policy adviser for the United Nations Millennium Campaign and has been with the Campaign since Summer 2005. The Campaign was set up by the Secretary General to raise awareness about the Millennium Development Goals, and to support citizens’ efforts to hold their governments to account for the achievement of the Goals. Mandeep started her career in the UK Government’s Department for International Development before moving to the European Commission (the executive branch of the European Union). She also briefly worked in an office jointly managed by the European Commission and the World Bank. Mandeep has worked almost exclusively on developing countries and transition economies, both managing development assistance and providing guidance on economic policy. Improving the effectiveness of donor aid programmes has been a common theme of Mandeep’s work, including through the implementation of wholesale reform in the aid programmes that she managed. Mandeep is trained in economics and development studies, most recently having completed a further graduate degree at Princeton University immediately before joining the Campaign.
