Bauer was formerly a Vice President at Goldman Sachs and President of the Goldman Sachs Philanthropy Fund, the firm's donor-advised fund. Doug was formerly Director of Community Partnership at SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline) and Executive Director of the SmithKline Beecham Foundation, where he focused on community-based healthcare in both the developed and developing world. Previously, Bauer was a Program Officer for Culture at the Pew Charitable Trusts where he created and managed two results-oriented, multi-year operating support programs for arts organizations. He serves on boards or committees for the Council on Foundations, The Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance and the Communications Network in Philanthropy. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches a course and seminars on philanthropy.
