Ambassador Satinder K Lambah is currently the Special Envoy in the Office of the Prime Minister of India. Lambah has also held the important posts of Ambassador of India to Hungary (1986-89); High Commissioner of India to Pakistan (1992-95); Ambassador of India to Germany (1995-98); Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation (1998-2001). He was Deputy Secretary General of the 7th Non-Aligned Summit held in Delhi in 1983, and was later Coordinator of the Commonwealth Heads of Governments meeting in India. After retiring from the India Foreign Service in August 2001, he chaired a Committee on the Reorganization of the Ministry of External Affairs and India's Missions Abroad. From November 2001 to July 2002, he was India's special envoy to Afghanistan. During 2004-05 he was the Convener of the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) for the Government of India.
