Biography

Robert G. Patman, a professor of international relations at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, has authored or edited seven scholarly books, written numerous book chapters, and contributed regularly to academic journals. Patman's research interests center on international relations, post-Cold War security, and the relationship between order and justice in a globalizing world. A 2003 Fulbright senior scholar, he also provides regular contributions to the national and international media on global issues. He has been a lecturer at the University of Surrey and a visiting professor to Brigham Young University, Christian-Albrechts-University, Kiel (Germany), and the University of Toronto (Canada). Students voted him one of the top twenty teachers at Otago University for 2007. Patman received a BA (Hons) in politics from the University of Lancaster, an MA in politics from the University of Warwick, and a PhD in international relations from the University of Southampton.
