Mrs. Yushchenko became First Lady of Ukraine in Autumn 2005, following Ukraine’s “Orange Revolution” where her husband, Viktor Yushchenko, ultimately became President of Ukraine. Graduating with a degree in International Economics from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Chicago, Kateryna Yushchenko was an established career woman prior to assuming her duties as First Lady. She is an economist and has held a variety of positions in organizations including the US Department of State, the US Department of Treasury, the White House, several Ukraine-focused development organizations, and the International Consulting Firm KPMG. While born and raised in the U.S., Mrs. Yushchenko has always been dedicated to Ukrainian history, culture and politics. As First Lady, she is dedicated to promoting Ukraine internationally, working in community service, and raising her family.
