After receiving her BA from Boston College, Dr. Kate Flanigan Sawyer moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University, where she received her MD from Tulane Medical School and MPH from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, both in 2000. Dr. Flanigan Sawyer’s medical training continued in California where she completed an internal medicine internship at Alameda County Medical Center, Highland Hospital. After her internship, Dr. Sawyer completed two residencies at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, one in preventive medicine and the other in occupational and environmental medicine. At present, Dr. Flanigan Sawyer is co-director of the Heart and Health Prevention Center, as well as the reviewing medical officer for the Department of Health and Human Services, Federal Occupational Health Division. She is also founder and CEO of Colorado Prevention Consultants, LLC.
