Michael Feinberg is co-founder of KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) Foundation and the superintendent of KIPP Houston, which includes four middle schools, two early childhood and elementary schools, and a high school. Feinberg co-founded KIPP in 1994 with Dave Levin and established KIPP Academy Houston a year later. Today, KIPP is a network of over 52 high-performing schools around the nation and has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, 60 Minutes, ABC World News Tonight, and in numerous newspapers and magazines. In 2004, Feinberg was named an Ashoka Fellow, and both Feinberg and Levin were awarded the Thomas B. Fordham Prize for Excellence in Education and the National Jefferson Award for Greatest Public Service by a Private Citizen.
