Vivian Bronsoler joined J-PAL in September 2014 as a Policy Manager. Based in Mexico, she works on the promotion of scientific evidence to inform policy in Mexico and Central America by building partnerships with policymakers, providing technical assistance, and conducting policy outreach and analysis. Vivian has experience in the design, implementation, and evaluation of social policies both at the national and local levels. At the national level, she worked as an adviser for the implementation of a project sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation aimed at bringing access to savings to the rural poor in Mexico, which established an electronic payment system for Oportunidades conditional cash transfer recipients in rural communities. While working at the Mexico City Government, she designed and implemented a government performance evaluation program and developed a strategic plan to restructure social policies in the City. Vivian also served as an intern for the World Bank in Jakarta, Indonesia, in an area focused on subnational development. She holds a Master of Public Policy from University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. in Political Science from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
