Dr. Samuel R. Browd is a board certified pediatric neurosurgeon appointed as Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington and Attending Neurosurgeon at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Dr. Browd is Adjunct Associate Professor of Bioengineering and affiliate faculty of the Foster School of Business where he teaches on Healthcare Innovation. Dr. Browd is the director of the Seattle Children’s Hydrocephalus Program, medical director of the Seattle Children’s Sports Concussion Program, and surgical director of the Tone Management Program at Seattle Children’s. Dr. Browd currently serves as an unaffiliated neurologic consultant to the NFL and an independent neurologic consultant to the Seattle Seahawks. Dr. Browd
was appointed as a University of Washington Presidential Entrepreneurial Fellow in 2013 and has founded three venture funded med-tech start-ups out of the University of Washington, two companies are developing products for hydrocephalus-related care. Dr. Browd’s research in hydrocephalus has included clinical trials as site PI for the Hydrocephalus Clinical Research
Network (HCRN), materials science and engineering solutions in hydrocephalus, and laboratory investigations of the cellular mechanism of shunt malfunction.
