Roland Hwang is the director of NRDC's transportation program. He works at state and national levels on transportation energy and global warming issues. He is an expert in vehicle fuel efficiency technologies, advanced vehicle technologies, and alternative fuels.
Prior to his work with NRDC, Roland was the director of the transportation program for the Union of Concerned Scientists in their Berkeley office. He has also worked on energy forecasting models at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and as an air pollution engineer at the California Air Resources Board. He is a mechanical engineer by training and holds masters degrees in both mechanical engineering and public policy from the University of California.
