Simon Henderson is Baker fellow at The Washington Institute and director of the Institute's Gulf and Energy Policy Program, specializing in energy matters and the conservative Arab states of the Persian Gulf. A former journalist with the Financial Times, Mr. Henderson worked as a consultant advising corporations and governments on the Persian Gulf and was an associate of the Institute from 1999. Before his twenty-one-year career with the Financial Times, he worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation. He served as a foreign correspondent in Pakistan in 1977-78, and reported from Iran during the 1979 Islamic revolution and seizure of the U.S. embassy. Mr. Henderson writes and appears frequently in the media discussing the internal political dynamics of the House of Saud, energy developments, events in Iraq, and Pakistan's nuclear program.
