Tax expert Diana Leyden directs and teaches in the Law School’s Tax Clinic, where students represent low-income taxpayers at various stages of tax controversies with the IRS and the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services. The holder of an LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center and a J.D. from UConn Law, Professor Leyden’s legal experience includes clerking for the Honorable Herbert Chabot of the United States Tax Court and practicing tax law with Steptoe & Johnson in Washington, DC and Day, Berry & Howard in Boston. Prior to beginning her career teaching tax law at UConn Law, Professor Leyden served for seven years (1988-1995) as a hearing officer and manager with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue Appeal & Review Bureau, after which she spent two years as a senior staff attorney with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services’ Legal Division.
