Valdis Dombrovskis is a member of the European Parliament and the Vice-President Designate of the European Commission, responsible for the Euro and Social Dialogue. Previously, he served as the Prime Minister of Latvia. He was also the Minister for Children, Family and Integration Affairs (2009); before that he was a Member of the European Parliament (2004-2009). Previously, he was also an Advisor to the Minister for Economics (2004-2006), a Member of the Council of the Nordic Investment Bank (2004-2006), a MP in the Saeima, faction ‘New Era’ (2002-2004) and the Minister for Finance (2002-2004), among other positions. He holds a Professional Master’s degree in Customs and Tax Administration from Riga Technical University, a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Latvia and Bachelor’s degrees in Economics from the Riga Technical University and in Physics from the University of Latvia.
