Speaker - Dan Harris

As a veteran journalist who’s covered the biggest stories of our time, Nightline co-anchor Dan Harris knows about pressure. In 2004, while filling in on Good Morning America, he suffered a panic attack—broadcast live to the nation—and knew he needed to make a change. His search eventually led him to meditation, as he describes in his new book, 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works. Harris was a “reluctant convert” who found the New Age trappings of some meditation devotees off-putting. But he discovered a movement of elite athletes and executives who use it to sharpen their minds and boost performance—and an explosion of new science showing how it can literally rewire the brain. Harris joined ABC News in 2000 and has reported from war zones and datelines around the world. He has won the Edward R. Murrow Award and in 2009 received an Emmy for a Nightline report on child slavery.
