Co-founder and partner of the Southern California Reproductive Center, Dr. Hal Danzer is an expert in reproductive medicine, including reproductive endocrinology, women’s health and fertility issues. As one of the most respected specialists in the Los Angeles area, over the years Dr. Danzer has helped countless patients fulfill their dreams of becoming parents.
Dr. Danzer is a reproductive endocrinologist board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and serves on the faculty of the UCLA Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship Program. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
A native of Montana growing up with a grandmother who served as a midwife, Dr. Danzer moved to California at a young age with his family. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of San Francisco, where he also first became interested in endocrinology during his time working in the laboratory; which was then followed with his medical degree from the St. Louis University School of Medicine, where he graduated cum laude and was elected to the National Medical Honor Society AOA. Following his internship at the University of Southern California Women’s Hospital Medical Center, he pursued his residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and completed a two-year fellowship program in reproductive endocrinology and infertility in the combined USC/Cedars-Sinai Medical Center program.
Among his hospital appointments, Dr. Danzer serves as Reproductive Endocrinologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, as well as Attending Physician in the Cedars-Sinai Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In 2000, Dr. Danzer co-founded Southern California Reproductive Center with Dr. Mark Surrey and Dr. David Hill. Together, they envisioned and created a fertility center that offers their patients the very highest quality in both laboratory science and best clinical care. A longtime expert on women’s health issues, Dr. Danzer has co-authored books on Natural Family Planning and Premenstrual Syndrome. He has also authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals such as Fertility and Sterility and the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. As a fertility researcher, Dr. Danzer is interested in strategies that enhance a patient’s chances of having a successful pregnancy, reduce the potential for miscarriages, lower the risk of genetic disorders and avoid the complications associated with multiple births. He believes that for most, in vitro fertilization (IVF) patients under 35 years old, single embryo transfers are optimal, and that these can best be achieved by pairing expert skills with advanced technologies.
Dr. Danzer was named one of the Top 10 Fertility Specialists in the country by Parent Magazine, and his expertise has been featured in The New York Times, In Touch Magazine, Yahoo!, Huffington Post, SheKnows.com, Refinery29 and The Marilu Henner Show, among many others. He has also served as an expert on television and for legal proceedings, as well as a consultant for the Department of Consumer Affairs.
Known for his compassion, Dr. Danzer takes a personal approach to care, helping to reduce the anxiety and stress of his patients to help create a sense of confidence. He is very attuned to the psychological and emotional plight of his patients, having learned to become a very good listener at the direction of his wife, a very well-known psychologist.
Dr. Danzer and his wife, Sheri, a psychotherapist, reside in Brentwood, California and have two adult children.
