David Rubin is the marketing vice president of Unilever’s hair brands, which includes such beloved brands as Dove, Suave, Tresemmé, Nexxus, Clear, Axe, Toni and Guy, Motions, and Just for Me. After years of decline, today Unilever hair is the haircare market leader in the U.S. for the first time in history, driven by innovative engagement marketing, digital content and compelling beauty brand propositions. Before hair, Rubin spent eight years on the Axe brand, including its launch into North America in 2002. He led several advertising campaigns, developed three brand-created TV shows and a video game, and pioneered Axe's viral and in-game marketing. Awards included several Cannes Lions, Guerrilla Marketer of the Year from Brandweek, Ad Age's Top 50 Marketers of 2004, and several Reggies. Prior to joining Unilever in 1999, Rubin worked for a U.S. congressman and in economic policy at the U.S. Treasury. Rubin is currently a board member of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s master of cosmetics and fragrance marketing.
