Biography

Vivienne joined Gild in 2012 as Chief Scientist, overseeing R&D and IP development. Dr. Ming is a theoretical neuroscientist focusing on probabilistic models of perception and cognition. She solves problems in data mining, cognitive modeling, and algorithm development. Vivienne has founded three previous companies focusing on unstructured data mining and cognitive modeling. Prior to catching the startup bug, Dr. Ming was a research scientist at the Redwood Center for Theoretical Neuroscience (UC Berkeley), where she remains a visiting scholar. Dr. Ming is on the board of the Our Family Coalition and is a member of the East Bay PFLAG. A passionate advocate for education reform, she has spoken with the U.S. Department of Education and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation about developing tracking models for students. Dr. Ming received her Ph.D. in Psychology and Theoretical Neuroscience from Carnegie Mellon.
