Susan K. Neely is president and chief executive officer of the American Beverage Association. The association is the leading policy and public education advocate for the non-alcoholic beverage industry which includes some of the world’s most respected brands such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola, Dr Pepper, Nestlé Water, Gatorade, Tropicana, Minute Maid, Lipton, Snapple and Vitamin Water. Ms. Neely has been named one of the nation’s top association chief executive officers by CEO Update every year since 2009.

Prior to joining American Beverage Association, Ms. Neely was one of the architects of the nation’s first Department of Homeland Security, where she served in both the White House and then in the department as assistant secretary for Public Affairs. She held senior positions in Congress and in the office of Governor Terry Branstad of Iowa. She also managed his first re-election campaign. Ms. Neely has had significant management, policy and advocacy experience, including executive positions with the Health Insurance Association of America and the Association of American Medical Colleges, as well as the founder and general manager of a Young & Rubicam subsidiary in Washington, D.C.

Neely currently serves as a director on the boards of the Global Child Nutrition Foundation, the American Society of Association Executives, the National Presbyterian School and the International Women’s Forum. She received the 2011 Global Citizen of the Year Award from the Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University.
