Dr. Eduardo Stein was Vice President of the Republic of Guatemala from 2004 to 2008 and Foreign Minister from 1996 to 2000. In 2001, Dr. Stein headed the Organization of American States Electoral Observation Mission for the Peruvian General Elections under the transitional government after the collapse of the Fujimori administration. Prior to his appointment as Foreign Minister of Guatemala, he was the Regional Project Counselor for Central America in the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which he also represented in Panama as its Resident Representative from 1993 until 1995. From 1982 until 1993, Mr. Stein was involved in regional development efforts promoted by the Latin American Economic System (SELA).
