   The National  Thumbnail


The National was formed in Brooklyn in 1999 by the vocalist Matt Berninger and two pairs of brothers, Aaron and Bryce Dessner and Bryan and Scott Devendorf. Its eponymous debut album came out in 2001, followed by "Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers," "Alligator," "Boxer," and, most recently, "High Violet."
