A banker turned entrepreneur, Sanjay Kapoor began his career in Indian fashion in the mid 1990s, and has worked tirelessly for the corporatization of the industry.

Mr. Kapoor has a wide breadth of experience in the field. He acquired a series of premium Indian fashion labels including Satya Paul, and launched Samsaara, a multi-designer concept store. He established India's first premium lingerie brand, Bwitch, and has expanded his vision of luxury retailing by introducing several international luxury brands in India, including Canali, Just Cavalli, Paul Smith, Etro, Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo, and Tumi. In addition, he has led Genesis into a joint venture with Burberry to form Burberry India.

Modeled on the lines of global fashion conglomerates, Genesis has posted impressive growth for the last few years, establishing its footprint across 20 Indian cities through a network of more than 125 stand alone stores. Mr. Kapoor is now targeting high-end mass-prestige brands looking to enter India.

Mr. Kapoor studied at Raffles Institution and has an M.B.A. from the University of Rochester. He currently lives in New Delhi and is a member of several trade bodies and organizations, including the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE). He is the recipient of several awards for his innovative initiatives in fashion retailing.
