GW Planet Forward identifies, celebrates and rewards ideas to solve global environmental challenges. Since 2009, Planet Forward has engaged new voices and brought their innovations to policy makers, academia, the private sector and the general public.
Planet Forward uses Web, video, social media, television and live events to lead a conversation on our planet’s future. Our team of experienced journalists, new media experts and cutting-edge student producers, editors and reporters identify key innovations and the interesting people behind them. Ideas are also uploaded directly from entrepreneurs, students, scientists, advocates, policy experts, public officials and concerned citizens.
Emmy Award-winning journalist Frank Sesno created Planet Forward to break the mold by using innovative media to convene the greatest experts and innovators to find solutions to the biggest challenges on our changing planet. Our site, planetforward.org
, now highlights more than 2,000 videos and ideas on sustainability, energy and the environment.
Planet Forward is produced by the Center for Innovative Media at The George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs. We are an educational nonprofit and rely on donations
and corporate and foundation funding
to keep finding new ideas to move the planet forward.
Planet Forward also serves as the outreach component and innovation research hub of GW’s interdisciplinary sustainability initiative.
