For the past 18 years, PopTech has gathered 600 of the brightest minds in Camden, Maine every October to share ideas and projects that are shaping the future. Described by WIRED as a conference for "real thinkers," it's where participants partake in stage presentations, breakout sessions, workshops, lunches and parties in a seaside village named by Forbes as one of "America's Prettiest Towns." At PopTech 2014: Rebellion, design visionary and guest host John Maeda led an exploration of how the spirit of rebellion has inspired some of the greatest advances in technology, science, business, design and social innovation. Speakers included Joi Ito, director of the MIT Media Lab; Regina Dugan, advanced special-projects group lead at Google and former director of DARPA; Helen Fisher, renowned expert on romantic love; and Paola Antonelli, senior curator at MoMA.
