About this conference

The Aspen Institute and The Atlantic announce their fifth annual celebration of ideas with the 2009 Aspen Ideas Festival. From June 29 - July 5 in Aspen, Colorado, more than 175 leaders from the fields of arts, science, culture, religion, philosophy, economics and politics will speak about "ideas that work"-describing and discussing proven, innovative solutions to challenging problems. Contributing their provocative perspectives, these presenters will engage the festival audience of nearly 2,000, as well as those following the festival online, in a deep and inquisitive public discourse on the most invigorating ideas and issues facing the world today.

About The Aspen Institute

The Aspen Institute mission is twofold: to foster values-based leadership, encouraging individuals to reflect on the ideals and ideas that define a good society, and to provide a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues. The Institute is based in Washington, DC, Aspen, Colorado, and on the Wye River on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and has an international network of partners.
