Andrew Kolodny, M.D., Phoenix House’s chief medical officer, is one of the nation’s leading experts on the prescription opioid and heroin crisis that is devastating families and communities across the country. In addition to his role at Phoenix House, Dr. Kolodny is a senior scientist at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University where he researches prescription drug monitoring programs. Dr. Kolodny is also the Executive Director and co-founder of Physicians for Responsible Opioid Prescribing (PROP), an organization with a mission to reduce morbidity and mortality caused by overprescribing of opioid analgesics. Prior to joining Phoenix House, Dr. Kolodny was Chair of Psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center in New York City, one of the largest community teaching hospitals in the country.
