What is over drainage? How can it be detected and remedied? What is the role of antisiphon devices? Dr. Moghekar will review the complication of over drainage in young and older populations. He will review its causes and the different strategies to remedy it. Attendees will understand how CSF over drainage through shunts can lead to headaches, subdural hematomas, slit ventricle syndrome (SVS) and shunt failure.

Dr. Abhay Moghekar is on the faculty at Johns Hopkins University
and serves as the Director of the Adult Hydrocephalus and CSF
Disorders Program. He is board certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology and has over 40 publications in peer-reviewed
journals. His research focuses on understanding biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid in hydrocephalus and Alzheimer’s disease.
