Roy Price, Director, Amazon Studios Ted Hope, CEO, Fandor
As director of Amazon Studios, Roy Price oversees the development of original films and TV series for Amazon.com. Founded in 2010, Amazon Studios is using the retail giant’s digital platform and user base to bypass Hollywood gatekeepers. Anyone can present ideas, which are reviewed and rated by customers; the best ones are produced and streamed through Amazon Instant Video. Garry Trudeau’s political comedy, Alpha House (starring John Goodman), is now entering its second season, and a slate of new shows has just been announced from A-list talent like X-Files creator Chris Carter and Jill Soloway, writer and producer of Six Feet Under. Price joined Amazon in 2004, overseeing the launch of the site’s digital video store and the move into streaming and cloud storage. Before that he was a consultant with McKinsey & Company and served as vice president of creative affairs at Walt Disney TV Animation.
