Professor Cohen is one of Australia’s pioneers of integrative and holistic medicine, and has made a significant impact in the fields of education, research, clinical practice, and policy. He is a registered medical practitioner with degrees in western medicine, physiology and psychological medicine along with PhDs in Chinese medicine and biomedical engineering. In 2002, he became Australia’s first Professor of Complementary Medicine and Head of the Department of Complementary Medicine at RMIT University, which was by far the largest department of its’ kind in the country with around 100 staff and 1000 students. He currently leads the Wellness Discipline in the School of Health Sciences at RMIT University and is a current Board Member and Former President of the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association (AIMA). He is also a member of the RACGP-AIMA Joint Working party, Fellow of the Australian Medical Acupuncture Society and the International College of Acupuncture and Electrotherapeutics, a Board Member of the Global Spa and Wellness Summit, and Editorial Board Member of four international journals.
Professor Marc Cohen is the Discipline Leader for the Wellness Group and a core member of the RMIT University Health Innovations Research Institute. He is a Program leader for the Master of Wellness program and a Member of the School of Health Sciences Executive and Research Committees. He is involved in Coordinating Short Courses and Undergraduate Wellness electives as well as supervising research students and research activities.
Professor Cohen is a prized speaker and has been an invited to speak at more than 40 international and 40 national conferences in more than a dozen countries. He serves as a consultant to many prominent national and international companies in the areas of spas and resorts, hospitality, tourism, property development, beauty, nutrition, wellness, medical devices, functional foods and herbal medicine. He has received four consecutive RMIT Media Star Awards, as well as the inaugural award for leadership and collaboration from the National Institute of Complementary Medicine.
Dr. Christy Garner
Dr. Christy Garner is the founder of Simply Vibrant, a revolutionary new concept in natural health, which empowers individuals with common-sense solutions for vibrant living, which she refers to as “Earth Medicine”. Dr. Garner possesses a diverse educational background, which spans the breadth of conventional and natural health. She earned her pre-medicine and natural science degree from the College of St. Benedict. Following her passion for natural medicine, she received her doctor of chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University.
Her post-doctorate focus has been in the field of epigenetics – expanding her knowledge base in the areas where individuals have influence over the expression of their genes, namely detoxification, nutrition, and stress adaptation. She is passionate about research and clinical applications in the new and exciting field of Earthing. She believes that attaining and maintaining vibrant health comes from reconnection to the Earth, to each other, and to our innate ability to heal.
