NEW YORK, September 26, 2013 - Iranian President Dr. Hassan Rouhani hails a "window of opportunity" to work with the West on Iran's nuclear program and alludes to the civil war in Syria before sitting down to a Q & A session with Asia Society President Josette Sheeran.
Mohammad Khazaee is Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations. From 2002 to 2007, he was Vice Minister for International Affairs and President of the Organization for Economic and Technical Assistance in Iran’s Ministry of Economic Affairs. Concurrently, he served as Governor of the OPEC Fund, Alternate Governor of the Islamic Development Bank, and a board member of the Iran-Misr (Iran-Egypt) Development Bank. Previously, he represented Iran at the World Bank (1988 to 2002) and served as a Member of Parliament (1981 to 1988).
Dr. Rouhani is the seventh President of Iran. He has been a Representative of the Supreme Leader to the Supreme National Security Council, a Member of the Expediency Council, and a Member of the Assembly of Experts. He held the following positions as a Member of the Majlis (Parliament): Majlis Deputy, Chairman of Majlis Defense Commission, First Deputy Speaker, and Chairman of Foreign Relations Committee. He also served as the President of the Center for Strategic Research. He holds a Ph.D. in Constitutional Law and an M. Phil. in Law from Glasgow Caledonian University (UK), and a B.A. in Judicial Law from the University of Tehran.
Josette Sheeran is the eleventh Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). She was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Food and Agriculture Organization Director-General Jacques Diouf in November 2006, and began her tenure April 2007. Prior to this post, she served as the United States Under Secretary for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs in the State Department since August 2005.

Mohammad Javad Zarif is an Iranian diplomat and politician and the current minister of foreign affairs in the Rouhani administration. He has held various significant diplomatic and cabinet posts since the 1990s.
