José Neves, Chief Executive Officer of farfetch.com, discusses how to foster fashion's diversity in the new digital era.
A seasoned fashion entrepreneur, José Neves has long had the vision of bringing together his interests in both technology and fashion to celebrate and support the creativity and diversity
of the global fashion industry.
Mr. Neves has been involved in the fashion startup world since the mid-1990s when he launched the footwear design business SWEAR. In 2001, he opened the world-renowned b store, which went on to receive numerous accolades and
awards, including the British Fashion Award for Retailer of the Year in 2006.
Mr. Neves added a number of footwear
licenses to his portfolio, including Opening Ceremony (New York), Ksubi (Australia), and Surface2Air (Paris). This portfolio forms the collective behind SIX London, a fashion licensing and wholesale company selling to more than 600 top retailers worldwide.
In 2008, Mr. Neves launched farfetch.com,
a project that brought together his previous experiences as a fashion designer, wholesaler, and retailer. Having learned first-hand the huge challenges facing a bricks-and-mortar retailer wanting to expand into the online space, he connects independent fashion boutiques and designers with a global community of fashion lovers in an unrivaled, curated fashion experience. With 165 boutiques, farfetch.com spans 16 countries and delivers globally.
