Recently returned from his stint as Fairfax's China correspondent, John Garnaut discusses his experiences with the Lowy Institute's Stephanie Dunstan. Garnaut describes the growing importance of China to the Australian economy, the massive changes occurring in China, and the rise of Chinese social media.
Stephanie Dunstan is the Lowy Institute's first Strategic Communications Manager. She joined the Institute in June 2011 following six years with the United Nations in Asia - Pacific and UN headquarters.
John Garnaut is Fairfax Media's China correspondent. John graduated in law and arts from Monash University and worked for three years as a commercial lawyer at Melbourne firm Hall & Wilcox before joining the Sydney Morning Herald as a cadet in 2002. He became the Economics Correspondent in the Canberra press gallery and in 2007 was posted to Beijing.
