Daniella Vitale is Chief Operating Officer for Barneys New York, having assumed the role in 2012. She joined Barneys in December of 2010 as Chief Merchant and Executive Vice President. Daniella oversees business development, digital strategy, store operations and women’s merchandising for the brand. Vitale has played a key role, alongside Mark Lee, in the re-building of Barneys which was acquired by Perry Capital last year.
Vitale moved to New York to study at the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising and then the Fashion Institute of Technology. She began her career in the luxury sector as a Merchandise Manager for Salvatore Ferragamo. From there she joined Giorgio Armani as Vice President of Wholesale in 1994 and then joined Gucci in 1999 in a similar capacity. In 2006, Daniella was named President and CEO of Gucci America.
Daniella is very active in the philanthropic sector receiving two awards for her charitable contributions: Champion of Children award from LIFT and Women Who Get it Right from NBCCF. Today, Daniella plays an active role in the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and sits on the New York Business Advisory Board of UNICEF.
Daniella resides in Manhattan with her husband, Dr. David Biro and twin sons, Luca and Daniel.
