Restaurateur and winemaker Joe Bastianich, along with B&B Hospitality Group partners Lidia Bastianich and Mario Batali, operates three wineries in Italy in addition to 18 successful restaurants across the country, including Babbo and Del Posto in NYC and Carnevino in Las Vegas.
In December 2010, the trio opened their first establishment overseas, Pizzeria and Osteria Mozza in Singapore. Mr. Bastianich co-authored two award-winning books on Italian wine and released his third book, Grandi Vini, an opinionated exploration of Italy's 89 finest wines, last fall. He has received numerous accolades for his groundbreaking work in the restaurant and culinary fields and in 2008 was
honored, along with Mario Batali, with the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Restaurateur Award.
Mr. Bastianich is currently a judge on FOX's hit reality TV show, MasterChef, where he shares his expertise to identify culinary talent from amongst thousands of amateur home cooks. In 2010, B&B Hospitality Group partnered with Italian retail pioneer Oscar Farinetti to bring Eataly, the largest artisanal food and wine market in the world, to New York.
Food and wine expert Joe Bastianich draws similarities between the beauty of wine and the beauty of fragrance. In both industries the olfactory sensation is tantamount. "How we quantify the aesthetics of what is good and what is beautiful in food and wine, and in beauty care have a very similar foundation," argues Bastianich.
