Anupama Rao Singh, UNICEF's Director of East Asia and the Pacific Region, talks about how the CRC helped in addressing sensitive child protection issues.

Ms. Singh is the UNICEF Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific.
Ms. Singh has also served as Deputy Director of UNICEFâ€™s Programme Division, and as UNICEF Representative in Iraq. In addition, Ms. Singh has undertaken a number of special assignments for the UN, including the co-ordination of the needs assessment for reconstruction in Iraq and Deputy Humanitarian Co-ordinator ad interim for the Darfur crisis in Sudan.
After joining UNICEF in 1980, Ms. Singh has worked in UNICEFâ€™s offices in India, Sudan and Uganda.
A national of India, Ms. Singh attended the Lady Irwin College in New Delhi, India, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She also obtained a Bachelorâ€™s degree in Education and a Masterâ€™s degree in Child Development.
