The New Blue Media, a new book by Theodore Hamm, discusses how progressive ideals have taken over the media with comedic satire using shows like The Colbert Report and websites like The Onion.
Ted Hamm is the founding editor of The Brooklyn Rail and an associate professor of urban studies at Metropolitan College of New York. He has written for the Los Angeles Times, The Nation, and Truthdig, among other publications.
In 1997 he received the Outstanding Volunteer Service award from San Quentin State Prison for teaching in the prison's college program. He lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Theodore Hamm overviews his new book The New Blue Media and sections new liberal media into three components: the satirical, the didactic, and the activist front. Hamm locates these three components and their key players -- Michael Moore, Stephen Colbert, Moveon.org -- in the 2004 election and follows their development to the upcoming presidential election.
